In order to complete online enrolment you must first have met any conditions of your offer and formally accepted our offer of a place.
Once you have accepted our offer on the place of the programme you will normally be contacted via email 3 weeks before the start date of the programme with instructions on how to complete enrolment.
The email that you will receive will contain a new username and password; you will need to log on to SIMS http://sims.cardiff.ac.uk using the assigned username and password. Once you have successfully logged into SIMS you will then see a yellow box in the top right hand corner prompting you to Complete Online Enrolment.
It is essential that you complete this task prior to the start date of the programme in order to be fully registered as a student . Failure to complete online enrolment within 2 weeks of the programme start date may mean that you are withdrawn from the programme.
Once you have completed online enrolment you should receive an e-mail confirming your successful enrolment. After 24 hours of receiving this confirmation of successful enrolment students will receive access to Learning Central, Cardiff University’s Virtual Learning Environment.
Once you are registered as a student you will automatically be permitted access to our electronic library resources at Cardiff University and the world-leading electronic library resources from the Institute of Education, University of London.

Requesting your Cardiff University Student ID Card
As a distance learning student you are entitled to apply for a Cardiff University Student ID Card.
You will need to have completed online enrolment and be registered as a student at Cardiff University in order to receive your Cardiff University Student ID Card.
Your Cardiff University Student ID card entitles you to a number of benefits which include;
In order to request your ID card you will need to complete and return the Student ID Card request form. Please contact us at WalesMEP@cardiff.ac.uk or on 029 2087 0947 for the form.
You must submit this form with a passport sized photograph. Please ensure that you write your name and student number on the reverse of the photograph and attach this to the form.
You will need to send your completed Student ID request form to the following address;

Once your Student ID Card has been processed we will distribute your Student ID Card to you at the Learning Event for Module 1 in January or via recorded delivery to the home address provided on your application form.
